How to View Netflix with Friends and Family

How do you throw a Netflix watch party while remaining socially distant? The emergence of lethal viruses has given birth to a new world in which we work from home, live at home, and do everything from home. Some people may enjoy the cosiness and having more time on their hands.

However, I miss spending time with my friends, especially going to the movies or watching TV shows and movies on Netflix with them. To combat this, some OTT platforms, such as Hulu and Amazon Prime Video, have a watch party feature that allows you to stream a specific show with your friends.

However, Netflix does not currently support such a feature. There are new ways to watch our favourite Netflix movies and shows with friends, thanks to independent developers. This article will go over how to watch Netflix with friends from a distance. So, if you’re ready for a watch party, let’s get started.

How to Watch Netflix Remotely With Others (2022)

Watching a movie or TV show with friends is more about socialising for the sake of the shared experience. That is why we go to see a new movie in a theatre or watch our favourite game in a sports bar. We can’t recreate the experience by hosting a remote viewing party. Still, it’s preferable to sitting alone in your bedroom watching a nostalgic film.

We’ll go over some apps, browser extensions, and other ways to watch Netflix with friends at home. Some methods are only available through web browsers, while others allow you to join the party using your iPhone, Android device, or Windows or Mac computer.

To Watch Netflix with Others, Use Browser Extensions

There are several Chrome extensions, as well as Edge and Firefox extensions, that you can use to watch Netflix or other video streaming sites simultaneously. The extensions are compatible with Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, Amazon, and other streaming services. I tried several and chose two working extensions for you to host a Netflix watch party. Let’s see how we can put them to use.

Telethon (Netflix Party)

Teleparty, formerly known as Netflix party, is now available on the Edge and Chrome browsers. All you need is a Netflix subscription and to install the extension on your browser. Yes, the extension will not allow you to view Netflix content unless you have a Netflix account. You can either share one with a friend or use your own. In any case, the playback is flawlessly synced. Here’s how to host a Netflix watch party with the Teleparty extension.

  • Install the Teleparty Chrome or Edge extension (link).
  • Now, open your browser to the Netflix website and begin watching the show you want to host. Then, from the extension menu, select the “TP” icon.
  • Before the party can begin, the extension will request several permissions.
  • Allowing the permissions will result in the creation of a room for your friends to join.
  • Click the “TP” extension once more to get the shareable link for the watch party.
